The College of Wooster Preschool is closed on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

We once again offer our thanks to our emergency and essential staff for their ongoing support during severe weather. Their commitment to student care, campus operations, and safety is invaluable, and we are grateful for their dedication.


Campus Message | Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, 7:15 p.m.

The safety of our students, faculty and staff is our top priority. Due to severe weather conditions, the College will operate on a largely remote basis on Monday, Jan. 26. Please see below for details on closures, changes to hours of services, and remote operations.

If you are designated essential personnel your supervisor will be in contact about reporting to campus.

Normal on-campus operations are expected to resume on Tuesday, Jan. 27, unless otherwise communicated. Please watch your email for updates.

Closures

  • Academic buildings will be closed.
  • Administrative offices will be closed and administrative personnel able to work remotely will do so.
  • The Wooster Preschool will be closed.

Changes to Normal Operations and Service Hours

  • No in-person classes will be held.
    • Classes that can be taught online will be held remotely. Faculty will receive additional communication from Academic Affairs.
    • Students should look for email notifications from their instructors as to whether a class will meet remotely or have an alternative plan for the day.
  • The Lowry Center will open as usual at 6:30 a.m. and will close an hour early at 11 p.m.
  • Dining services at Lowry Center will open at 7 a.m. with continental breakfast. Hot food will be added to later service times and dining will close at 8 p.m.
  • MacLeod’s C-store will open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • The Wellness Center will be on a delayed start, opening at 10 a.m.
  • The Scot Center will open on a delayed start at 8 a.m., then resume normal hours with close at 10 p.m.
  • Andrews Gult Library (AGL) will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with swipe access only. AGL will be available for studying with limited circulation services. Timken Science Library will be closed.
  • IT services will be available by phone, email or live chat. Visit the Technology@Wooster page for contact info. No in-person services will be available at Morgan Hall.
  • APEX Offices will be closed. Students with scheduled appointments should expect to meet virtually via Teams.

Remote Operations

  • Administrative functions will continue remotely. For more information on our Inclement Weather policy, please see our staff handbook.
    • Staff who are able to work remotely will work their normal schedule.
    • Staff whose job duties cannot be completed remotely may use the “weather” code when completing their time sheet.

We extend our deep gratitude to our emergency and essential staff who continue to support the campus during these conditions—ensuring students are fed, buildings remain warm, critical maintenance systems are functioning, and roadways and walkways are cleared. Their commitment and professionalism during severe weather are sincerely appreciated.

We will continue to monitor weather conditions closely and will share additional updates via email and the College website as needed.

Staying Safe and Warm

  • Dress in Layers: Wear multiple layers of clothing to retain body heat. Ensure extremities are covered with hats, gloves, and warm socks.
  • Limit Outdoor Exposure: Extended exposure to extreme cold can result in hypothermia and frost bite. Minimize time spent outdoors and avoid prolonged exposure to the cold. Cover any exposed skin and remember that wind chills can make the weather feel much colder than the actual temperature.
  • Stay Informed: Regularly check weather updates and campus communications for any changes or important announcements.
