WOOSTER, Ohio – A detailed data analysis by The Princeton Review has resulted in The College of Wooster being selected for, and profiled in, the 2018 edition of “Colleges That Pay You Back: The 200 Schools That Give You the Best Bang for Your Tuition Buck,” released by Penguin Random House on Tuesday.
According to The Princeton Review, the 200 schools that make up the book share three exceptional qualities: stellar academics, affordable cost (either via a comparatively low sticker price or generous financial aid), and strong career prospects for graduates.
The editors used more than 40 data points to tally ROI (return on investment) ratings, which determined the selections for the book, and topics covered everything from academics, cost, and financial aid to graduation rates, student debt, alumni salaries, and job satisfaction.
In Wooster’s profile of “Colleges That Pay You Back,” students who were surveyed praise the school for its ability to “shape, direct, and achieve (their academic) goals (all) while being supported by a community of peers, professors, and mentors” and for an “education that truly allows individuals to uncover their passions.” Also, Wooster’s “incredibly knowledgeable” and “engaging” professors were recognized as “entirely committed to giving each student the opportunity to succeed.”
In addition to a two-page profile of each school, there are seven top-25 ranking lists in special categories, and Wooster checked in at No. 9 in top internship opportunities. The editors noted “Wooster’s outstanding career services truly helps students prepare for their postgraduate life” and that “from the moment undergrads set foot on campus, they can visit APEX, Wooster’s center for Advising, Planning, and Experiential Learning, to begin exploring where certain majors might lead.”
The Princeton Review, an education services company, is well regarded for its school recommendations in many of its projects, one being the annual book, “The Best 382 Colleges,” of which Wooster is regularly included.
