Wooster Selected as One of “200 Schools with Exceptional ROI” in New Book

WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster is acknowledged as one of the nation’s best for academics, affordability, and career prospects, the three qualities that form the schools listed in “The Best Value Colleges: 200 Schools with Exceptional ROI for Your Tuition Investment,” the latest book by The Princeton Review, released Jan. 29.

The selections for the book are the product of a detailed data analysis, as editors came up with more than 40 data points to tally ROI (return on investments) ratings, and topics covered everything from academics, cost, and financial aid to graduation rates, student debt, alumni salaries, and job satisfaction.

There is a two-page profile on each of the 200 schools, including comments from students who were surveyed. Wooster students commended their school for its ability to “shape, direct, and achieve (their academic) goals (all) while being supported by a community of peers, professors, and mentors” and for an education that truly allows individuals to uncover their “passions.” They also raved about the “incredibly knowledgeable” and “engaging” professors, and many remarked upon the “generous scholarships” that are available.

Also, there are seven special top-25 ranking lists within the book, of which less than half of the colleges appear in. Wooster made one, checking in at No. 12 in “Best Schools for Internships,” a nod to its center for Advising, Planning, and Experiential Learning, known on campus as APEX. The editors applauded “Wooster’s outstanding career services,” which “truly helps students prepare for their postgraduate life,” further noting that “from the moment undergrads set foot on campus, they can visit APEX … to begin exploring where certain majors might lead.”

The Princeton Review, an education services company (not affiliated with Princeton University), is well regarded for its school recommendations in many of its projects, one being the annual book, “The Best 384 Colleges.” Wooster is regularly featured, including in the 2019 edition.
