Wooster Singers to Perform April 12

WOOSTER, Ohio – The Wooster Singers, under the direction of Jennifer Call, will present a concert on Friday, April 12, at The College of Wooster. The performance, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Gault Recital Hall of Scheide Music Center (525 E. University St.) beginning at 7:30 p.m.
“The performance will explore the complex interactions with nature through the text of Wendell Berry, Emily Carr, and Victor Hugo as we celebrate spring and the beauty of our natural world,” according to Call. Music of living composers, Abbie Betinis, Paul Simon, and Malcolm Daglish, will also be performed.
The Wooster Singers is a non-auditioned, mixed voice choral ensemble open to all on campus. Choral learning, including music notation understanding and expressive musical development, are key foci. The Singers performs a variety of music on and off campus throughout the academic year and has combined in previous years with the Wooster Symphony Orchestra and the Wayne County Choral Union.
In addition to conducting the Wooster Singers, Call is an adjunct professor of music at Wooster where she teaches voice. In addition, she is the conductor of preparatory choirs and voice faculty chair at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She received her bachelor of arts in music education from The Ohio State University and a master of music degree from The University of Akron.
