Wooster’s International Education Week Begins With Culture Show Saturday Night
WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster welcomes the occasion to once again take part in International Education Week (IEW), an opportunity from Nov. 2-9 to celebrate the benefits that come with having nearly 20% of its student body made up of international students or global nomads, including representatives from 62 countries.
While now a national initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, Wooster has had its own version of IEW since the 1970s and this year’s festivities will offer a variety of activities for students, faculty, and staff as well as the community at-large to explore new cultures and examine international issues.
Kicking off the celebration is the Culture Show, which has become an annual highlight on campus, on Saturday night from 7-9 p.m. The show features international students taking the stage at McGaw Chapel to showcase their different cultures through dance and musical performances.
Other highlights of the week include the screening of a popular German film, “Oray,” soups from around the world during Wednesday afternoon’s “Soup and Bread” program, and “WooStories: Asians in America,” student narratives addressing a diverse concept of Asia. View the complete schedule here.
