Wooster again ranks high for international student enrollment

International-welcome

The College of Wooster is once again considered one of the “Leading Institutions for International Students,” ranking No. 27 among baccalaureate colleges and universities in the United States, according to Open Doors, an annual report sponsored by the U.S. Department of State that tracks trends in international student enrollment.

The ranking is based on the actual number of international students studying at the College, which Open Doors reported as 301 students at Wooster this year, up from 282 last year. International students enrolled for the first time at a U.S. college or university soared by 80% year-over-year up to 261,961 students in 2021/22. This brings new international student totals back to pre-pandemic levels.

Continuing to rank as a leading institution for international students affirms Wooster’s commitment to having a diverse, inclusive, safe, and welcoming community. The global campus at Wooster, along with the small classes led by faculty who are leaders in their fields and excellent research opportunities, benefits all students. Wooster has been listed on the Open Doors list of the top 40 leading institutions consistently since 2018.

Founded in 1919, the Institute of International Education conducts an annual census of international students in the United States. Named the Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange, it has long been regarded as the comprehensive information resource on international students and scholars in the United States and on U.S. students studying abroad.
