Annual Culture Show punctuates Wooster’s International Education Week celebration

Culture Show 2023

With a global campus representing 76 countries in the student body, The College of Wooster will celebrate International Education Week from Nov. 3-9, 2024. Throughout the week, students will immerse themselves in and celebrate Wooster’s global community through events honoring the diverse population on campus.

Festivities for the week culminate in the annual Culture Show on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, at 7 p.m. in McGaw Chapel (340 E. University Street). The event gives students a platform to feature a variety of cultures through song, dance, instrumental performance, fashion, and more.

Additional events students may engage in during the week include an International Student Panel about internships hosted by APEX, an International Snack Night where students will indulge in snacks from around the world, a Global Bazaar, and an Anime Movie Night held by the Japanese Culture Association and International Student Services (ISS). For international students, the Wooster Christian Fellowship and ISS will celebrate the many cultures represented on campus with an International Student Night.

International Education Week is a joint initiative between the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education that seeks to celebrate both the benefits of International Education as well as the tradition of global exchange between the United States and other countries.

Though not piloted on a national level until 2000, Wooster has proudly celebrated IEW on campus for more than 30 years with the first festival having been initiated by foreign language faculty in the 1970s. For more information on this year’s celebration, visit wooster.edu/iew.
