The College of Wooster Board of Trustees has elected Mark Goodman ’90, chairman of the Colorado Nut Holding Company, to serve as chair, effective July 1, 2025.

Goodman, a member of the Wooster Board of Trustees since 2016, brings a wealth of leadership experience in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors. He has held prominent executive roles at companies such as Vistage Worldwide Inc., Save A Lot Inc., Sam’s Club/Walmart, and the McDonald’s Corporation. He also serves on the boards of several organizations, including Tufts University, Bellco Credit Union, and Delta Dental of Colorado. In addition, he is vice chair of Freedom House, an organization that champions democracy around the world.

Goodman will succeed outgoing board chair Sally Staley ’78, who has served in this role since July 2021 and has been an active member of Wooster’s board for nearly 20 years. Under her leadership, the College navigated significant changes in the landscape of higher education.

“It has been a joy to serve and guide my alma mater, working with President Anne McCall and my fellow trustees to ensure Wooster has a vibrant future,” Staley said. “Mark is a capable, dedicated leader, and I look forward to supporting him as he begins this new chapter.”

Goodman, who earned his Wooster degree in philosophy, currently serves as the vice chair of the board as well as chair of the audit and risk committee. Goodman’s leadership experience in higher education extends beyond Wooster as well; he is a former trustee of Xavier University of Louisiana, the St. Louis School of Business, and Livingstone College.

“Serving Wooster has been important in my family for decades, starting with my father who served as a parent trustee from 1987 to 1990. I am pleased to help steer the College into the future through this new role,” Goodman said. “My time at Wooster taught me the power of curiosity and the value of connection within this community. It is an honor to be able to give back to the College in this way.”

“Speaking for the College, we are grateful for Sally’s leadership. Time and time again, she has supported the College in myriad ways. She has also been a steadfast partner for me as I embarked on my presidency,” President Anne McCall said. “Mark likewise brings to this role lifelong dedication to advancing Wooster’s mission, and a passion for supporting educational opportunities for students. He exemplifies the difference Wooster graduates can make. I look forward to working with him as we continue to innovate our curriculum, elevate the Wooster student experience, and prepare our students to lead lives of meaning and impact.”
