Madison “Matt” Chastain, retired campus dining manager at The College of Wooster, passed away on March 23, 2025, in Wooster, Ohio, at the age of 66. Chastain began at the College in 1976.

Chastain’s 46-year career with Campus Dining at Wooster began when he was a teenager, working in the bake shop at the Lowry Center, before being promoted to head baker, leading the team of staff who produced all the breads, cookies, cakes, pies, and donuts served on campus from scratch. After the bake shop’s closure, Chastain was promoted to production supervisor in Lowry Dining Hall.

Chastain is remembered for his calm leadership and friendly personality that touched countless students and staff throughout his career, before his retirement in June 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, and a full obituary is available here.
