“Traveling by Paddle Too” is a collection of creative writing, often containing surrealist influences, created during this school year. It largely consists of poems, which range in form, style, and subject matter, leaning in and out of abstraction, as well as some short form stories. This helped me to develop my voice as a writer, and hone influences of mine, such as Richard Brautigan, Paul Eluard, and Dorothy Parker, into my own work, whether consciously or unconsciously, as well as develop a thought process on poems as individual pieces or stories vs. as part of a larger collection.
