Suwatana (Pla) Rockland, who also uses the nickname, Pla, is currently a resident costume designer, professor, and costume shop supervisor at The College of Wooster. Suwatana is originally from Thailand. She is a former professional dancer, actress, director, choreographer, and designer. Suwatana has worked on industrials, commercials, television shows and stage productions. In addition to her full-time employment, she finds time to freelance as a costume designer and guest lecturer for universities and theatres in the U.S. and Thailand. She holds a Master of Fine Art Degree (M.F.A.) with focus on Costume Design and Technician from Kent State University and is a member of USITT.
Her professional credits in Ohio have included Kent State, The Players Guild Theatre, Porthouse Theatre, Beck Center for The Arts, Case Western Reserve University, MFA professional Acting program and the Cleveland Playhouse, Baldwin Wallace University, Dobama Theatre, Karamu house, Cleveland Public Theatre, Ohio Light Opera and professional credit in Sarasota, Florida included Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe. www.Plarocklanddesign.com
