Founded in the 1989-1990 academic year, The Goliard’s mission is simple: cultivate a community of inclusivity that provides a structure for the creative forces of the college. To do this, our aim is to find well-rounded, representative student-made literary, artistic, and creative work from The College of Wooster’s undergraduate population. Each year, staff members are interviewed for editor positions ranging from visual art, poetry, prose, layout, and music. Over the course of the academic year, submitted student work is reviewed and, if accepted, then published in a physical as well as online edition. The Goliard’s mission is more than simply commemorating and honoring talented creativity amongst the student body. Our mission is to first foster a community of arts with the broader student population through advertising across campus and documenting the cultural tempo of each academic year. Over the fall semester, The Goliard staff traditionally partners with academic and extracurricular groups on campus to hold events such as writing workshops, art showcases, film and production symposiums, and music performances. Such events are not only an asset to the creative talents of Wooster, but also promote publicity and interest within The Goliard through relations with the broader student body. Together our events and publication provide a rich collection and testament to the creative energy found on The College of Wooster’s campus.
