Presidential interviews in full swing

Dear College of Wooster Community,

I hope you enjoyed another great Black and Gold Weekend, and that your fall semester is getting off to a great start!

Just over six months ago Sally Staley ’78, chair of the Board of Trustees, announced the formation of the Presidential Search Committee charged to lead a process that will result in the appointment of The College of Wooster’s 13th president. As chair of that committee, I am pleased to share that we have been actively engaged in reviewing a select group of tremendously talented candidates and will be working over the course of the next few weeks to identify our finalists.

Our great progress in this important search is thanks to our partners at Storbeck Search and the hard work and dedication of the Trustees, faculty, staff, students, and alumni who are engaged as members of our search committee. The search committee has considered a diverse pool of applicants from a variety of perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences. At every step of the process, we have weighed each candidate’s resumé as it relates to the opportunities, challenges, qualifications, and characteristics established for the search and shared in our prospectus after feedback from you—the members of our Wooster community.

During our listening sessions held in April and in subsequent search updates we stressed the need to maintain confidentiality in the search process so that candidates could fully explore our opportunity without fear their engagement in our search would become widely known at their current institutions. Maintaining confidentiality has been of the utmost importance to the candidates and will be essential as we narrow the pool down to our final candidates in the weeks ahead.

We are so excited to be at this point in the process, considering the competitive landscape for top presidential talent at colleges and universities across the country. Wooster is an exceptional institution, and we are thrilled the marketplace thinks so as well!
