Wooster Symphony Orchestra presents tribute to Elvis Presley in holiday concert

Elvis Presley impersonator, Mike Albert

The Wooster Symphony Orchestra will present a holiday concert titled “Elvis Has Entered the Building! Holiday Music as Recorded by Elvis Presley” on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in McGaw Chapel (340 E. University Street).

The concert will feature famed Elvis Presley impersonator Mike Albert, who will join the WSO to perform holiday arrangements from Presley’s beloved Christmas Album, transcribed from the original recordings by WSO music director Jeffrey Lindberg. With sales exceeding 20 million copies worldwide, it is the best-selling Christmas album in the world and is one of the best-selling albums of all time.

Albert is known worldwide for his respectful portrayal of the late Elvis Presley. He has won several major world Elvis contests, appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, and has had six of his music videos featured on the national show A Current Affair. As a live performer, Albert’s style, charisma, and ability to engage his audiences continue to draw sold-out crowds to his shows every year.

In addition to directing the Wooster Symphony Orchestra, Lindberg teaches courses in jazz history, improvisation, and trombone and directs the Wooster Jazz Ensemble. While at Wooster, Lindberg has drawn attention to lesser-known composers and exposed his students and community members to world-class soloists and compositions. Lindberg is also the co-founder and artistic director of the Chicago Jazz Orchestra, Chicago’s oldest professional jazz orchestra in continuous operation.

The performance is sponsored by the Burton D. Morgan Foundation, with additional support from Mike and Stephanie Reardon, Steve and Chris Matthew, Richard and Judy Seaman, Greg and Kathy Long, Bob and Nancy Walton, and Friends of the Wooster Symphony Orchestra.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Department of Music at jlindberg@wooster.edu, or by calling 330-263-2047.
