The College of Wooster’s Scot Symphonic Band and Percussion Ensemble to perform Nov. 12

The College of Wooster’s Scot Symphonic Band and Percussion Ensemble will present a combined concert on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 3 p.m. in the Gault Recital Hall of Scheide Music Center (525 E. University Street).

The performance will feature a wide variety of music, with compositions by David Maslanka, Kimberly Archer, Pavel Tschesnokoff, and Tielman Susato. The concert will also feature composers Evan Williams, Ryan George, and Daiki Kato.  

The Scot Symphonic Band is conducted by Jeffrey D. Gershman, professor of music and director of bands at Wooster. Gershman also conducts the Wooster Concert Band and serves as the assistant director of the Scot Marching Band, along with teaching classes in conducting and music education. He received his Doctor in Musical Arts in Wind Conducting degree from The University of Texas at Austin and continues to maintain an active schedule as a guest conductor for bands throughout the country. 

The Percussion Ensemble is directed by Ryan Kilgore, who also serves as the director of the Scot Marching Band and teaches classes in percussion. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of North Texas and is a renowned marimbaist; he has performed in concerts and given clinics throughout the United States and Europe.
