For the student’s protection, FERPA limits release of student record information without the student’s explicit written consent; however, it also gives the student’s parent(s)/guardian the right to review those records if the parent(s)/guardian claim the student as a dependent on their federal income tax return.

Students may complete the FERPA Release Form  (.pdf) in order to give their parents access to their educational records. Parents may also complete the FERPA Release Form  (.pdf) showing a student is a dependent to gain access to their student’s records.
