Wooster Women in S.T.E.M strives to unite and support females in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) community at The College of Wooster. However, it is open to all students of all majors. The organization is also determined to be a force in educating the campus community and the public about women in STEM, their accomplishments, and the challenges and obstacles they face. Our purpose is to enrich women in STEM here by facilitating projects, socializations, and activities conducted in comfortable and collaborative settings. We aim to generate a diverse and positive academic club that understands different experiences and supports people facing bias, and further promotes an unbiased environment for student success.

During the month of March (due to International Women’s Day on March 8 and Women’s History month), our organization will work closely together and potentially with other student organizations to recognize women in STEM fields and their accomplishments. Possible events include hosting a movie showing, having relevant speakers, and tabling in Lowry in order to inform students about the month’s importance and encourage involvement in the club. We’re aiming to establish a post-graduate network of at least 100 alumni for current and future students to generate connections and building a welcoming community for future success by the end of this year. We will also be motivating current members to expand their professional networks by contributing posts and features on the WiSTEM LinkedIn Page this year.
