The Diamond Brass will Present “A Celebration Concert” Sunday, Nov. 24

WOOSTER – The Diamond Brass will present “A Celebration Concert,” sponsored by The College of Wooster’s Department of Music and the Cultural Events Committee, in Gault Recital Hall of Scheide Music Center (525 E. University St.) on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 7:30 p.m.
The Diamond Brass is comprised of five brass specialists and performers from the Cleveland, area including trumpeters Amanda Bekeny ’00, and Nina Bell, Gregg Hillis (horn), Whitney Clair (trombone), and J.C. Sherman (tuba).

The program will feature two works, “In the Zone” and “Ballyhoos and Hullabaloos,” by composer Andrew Rindfleisch, who will be in attendance. John Cheetham’s “Scherzo,” Michael Galloway’s arrangement of Johann Sebastian Bach’s “St. Anne” Fugue in Eb major, BMV 552, and Malcolm Arnold’s “Quintet for Brass,” Op. 73, will also be performed.

At Wooster, Bekeny is adjunct trumpet instructor and the Brass Chamber music coach. In addition to the Diamond Brass, she is an active performer as a member of the City Music Cleveland Chamber Orchestra, Firelands Symphony, and Olympic Brass Quintet. She can also regularly be heard playing with the Akron Symphony and is a former member of the Ashland Symphony, Mansfield Symphony, and Ohio Light Opera Orchestra. She received a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a doctorate in musical arts degree from The Ohio State University.
