Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) is the National Communication Honor Society open to qualified juniors and seniors. Membership in LPH is by invitation only. The name Lambda Pi Eta derives from what Aristotle’s ancient text, “The Rhetoric,” described as the three means of persuasion: Logos, which refers to logic; Pathos, which relates to emotional appeals; and Ethos, which is defined as character credibility.

Here at The College of Wooster, we are one of the charter members of LPH; more specifically, we are the Lambda chapter which means that we, in particular, uphold the role of reasoning in persuasive endeavors. Moreover, as members of LPH, we are dedicated to the organization’s goals of:

  • Rewarding outstanding scholastic achievement
  • Encouraging interest in the discipline of communication
  • Promoting professional development among communication majors
  • Providing opportunities to discuss ideas in the various fields of communication
  • Exploring options for graduate study.
