Jason McGrath to serve as vice president for enrollment management at Wooster

Jason McGrath

Following an extensive nationwide search, Jason McGrath has been selected as The College of Wooster’s new vice president for enrollment management. He will begin on Jan. 6, 2025.

McGrath began his 25-year career in higher education as an academic advisor at Sinclair Community College, before discovering his affinity for admissions work while serving in Wooster’s Admissions office from 2002 to 2006. After this early role, McGrath expanded his admissions acumen at Vanderbilt University, where he remained for nearly 16 years. Through that span, McGrath shaped the University’s strategy surrounding domestic recruitment, evolved first-year and transfer evaluation processes, and oversaw student-athlete admissions, while building a network of high school counselors and fellow admissions professionals around the world. In 2022, McGrath brought his recruitment and selection expertise to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a top public university in the U.S., serving as associate provost and director of undergraduate admissions. Over the past two and a half years, Jason has led UNC’s admissions office through continuous public attention, intense application growth, increased admissions selectivity, and expanded recruitment and outreach efforts.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jason McGrath to the College of Wooster,” said Wooster’s President Anne McCall. “During his formative years he saw first-hand how students benefit from intentional mentoring by Wooster’s faculty and staff, especially through our signature Independent Study capstone program in which every student works with a faculty advisor to delve into a topic or creative endeavor of their choosing. Jason’s leadership will help us continue bringing to campus ‘quintessentially Wooster’ students with the academic excellence, community-mindedness, and keen curiosity that are characteristic of the students who thrive here.”

“My whole career has been dedicated to higher education,” said McGrath. “I’m proud to say I’ve always served schools where the mission and students are at the heart of every decision, and nowhere is this truer than at The College of Wooster. Leading Enrollment Management at Wooster is one of those rare opportunities to return to a place where I first discovered my professional calling and now can help take the College to the next level.”

McGrath holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Ohio Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in general psychology from the University of Dayton.
